We are the Australian Government’s lead advisor on communications and the arts—two of the most innovative and dynamic sectors in our economy.

Our focus

We develop policy, provide advice and analysis, and deliver programs that make digital technologies and communications services better for all Australians and enhance our cultural identity. We are passionate about what we do and invest in our employees so they have the right skills and knowledge to succeed.

Our portfolio responsibilities are diverse, as are our work opportunities. We work closely with key industries such as telecommunications, broadcasting and media, internet and postal services on our communications side; and screen, literature, performing, visual, regional and Indigenous arts, cultural institutions, festivals, museums, libraries and galleries in the arts.

Living and working in Canberra

Our Canberra office is located in New Acton—an innovative cultural precinct that has put Canberra on the map for design, creativity and originality. Our building, Nishi, won International Project of the Year at the 2015 Building Awards in London for contemporary and environmental design, and is surrounded by a great range of cafes, restaurants, bars, accommodation and public transport options.

Overlooking Lake Burley Griffin and close to Black Mountain nature reserve and the National Botanical Gardens, also means some of the best places to explore outdoors are minutes from our front door.

Canberra is a modern, thriving city – a centre for food, arts and entertainment, higher education, research, business development and new technology. Recently placing third in Lonely Planet’s top 10 cities, and winning the OECD’s most liveable city list, Canberra has a lot of offer and this only adds to the overall grad experience.

We also have offices in Sydney and Melbourne, but Canberra is the home of our grad program.
