When NRS calls are made to an overseas number or received from overseas, the numbers to use are sometimes different. You will need a suitable pre-paid calling card to make calls to overseas and premium-rate numbers.

Costs and payment methods

Overseas and premium-rate calls using the NRS can be made by using a prepaid phone card for use in Australia. Prepaid phone cards offer a range of rates for calls to overseas countries. Check the cost and terms and conditions of use with the provider of the card. Cards can be purchased at multiple values at convenience stores, petrol stations, supermarkets and on the internet. The cards come with their own instructions but generally, a local number is dialled and a special PIN number is entered before the overseas number is dialled.
