Antivirus vendor Avast has confirmed a breach of data associated with its customer forum, compromising user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords.

It confirms no payment or financial systems were affected.

It has taken the forum offline. All users will be required to set a new password when it returns.

If you use the Avast forum, and reuse this password elsewhere online, you should change those passwords immediately.
