We will be issuing a request for tender in October for provision of the Triple Zero Emergency Call Service (ECS) in Australia to solidify the future of the Emergency Call Service.

This follows a Review of the National Triple Zero (000) Operator earlier this year which focused on ensuring the service can keep pace with technological advancements and respond to changing consumer expectations.
The findings of the review strongly supported the importance that the Emergency Call Service be based on an Internet Protocol (IP) based environment.
Last month, we also commenced a Request for Expression of Interest process to test the market to see how accurate location information can be introduced for calls to Triple Zero from mobile phones. That process is due to close on 14 October 2016.
