Three million Australians are now connected to fast and affordable high-speed broadband through the National Broadband Network (NBN).

16 October 2017

The last six months has seen just under one million premises connect to the network, which equates to about 40,000 connections completed per week or one thousand every working hour.

As the NBN gathers pace, more than half of Australian homes and businesses are now able to order a NBN service through one of more than 100 service providers offering more choice than ever before.

To cover our vast continent, the new network is delivering high-speed broadband using a mix of technologies, including:

  • NBN fixed line – more than 2.7 million premises connected
  • Sky Muster satellites – almost 80,000 premises connected
  • NBN fixed wireless – over 200,000 premises connected

The rollout of the network has also created more than 30,000 jobs for Australians, including 6700 direct employees and 24,000 contractors.

The NBN rollout is one of Australia’s biggest infrastructure projects and is on track for completion by 2020.
