9 October 2019
Did you know that 1 in 5 Australians have experienced identity theft? It takes time, energy and emotion to recover from the damage caused by cybercrime.
This year, Stay Smart Online Week runs from 7-13 October. The theme for the week is 'Reverse the Threat' with a focus on empowering Australians to take control of their online identity by reviewing privacy settings, knowing how to spot scams, creating strong and unique passwords and using features like two-factor authentication.
We all have a role to play in keeping ourselves, families, businesses and communities safe from cybercrime.
The Stay Smart Online website has plenty of information to help you avoid cybercrime:
Each year, through Stay Smart Online Week, the Australian Government works industry, small business, community groups and all levels of government to raise awareness about the ways people can protect themselves online.
