The public consultation phase of the review into regional telecommunications has been completed.

3 August 2018

Over the past two months, the Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee (RTIRC) has held public forums in 22 regional locations in seven states and territories around Australia. The forums provided a platform for people to share their views about the quality and accessibility of their internet and mobile phone services.

During the consultation process, the Committee spoke to a range of individuals, businesses, local and state governments, and community groups in regional Australia.

This year, the Committee was particularly interested in how regional consumers use their broadband services and how they might maximise the social and economic benefits of digital technologies.

The Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the public forums. These insights will help inform the Committee’s report to the Minister for Regional Communications, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie. There’s still time to have your say. Complete the survey by 5 August 2018, 5.00 pm (AEST).
