Review of Telecommunications Infrastructure in New Developments (TIND) policy
Every year around 195,000 new proprieties are built in Australia. The Australian Government has in place arrangements so people moving into new properties have ready access to modern telecommunications like superfast broadband.
In March 2020 the TIND policy will be five years old. Since its introduction much has changed in the telecommunications sector, there will be further changes in 2020, including the completion of the National Broadband Network (NBN).
The current policy needs to be reviewed and revised so it continues produce good outcomes for consumers in a changing industry.
We are seeking comments on the policy by Friday, 20 December 2019.
We have prepared a paper that seeks comments on the policy, including developer and carrier obligations, charges, competition, and network and service standards. Comments on any other issue of concern to stakeholders are welcome.
Further background, discussion and information on how to provide comments are contained in the paper.
