The NBN rollout is now 80 percent complete in regional areas.
23 March 2018
Thousands of regional Australians are now able to access 21st century communications, with the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) outside of major urban areas reaching 80 percent complete.
The milestone follows a strong regional fixed wireless rollout in February, with 26 new sites activated providing high speed broadband access to over 5,800 homes and businesses.
These activations are part of more than 1,780 sites across the country providing access high speed broadband access to farmers, families and businesses owners in areas that typically have had poor access to broadband services in the past.
The NBN is connecting all Australians to faster, more reliable broadband through a mix of fixed line, fixed wireless and satellite technologies and is on track to be completed by 2020.
