The GovHack 2015 Red Carpet Awards were held on 5 September in Sydney, celebrating the potential of government open data.
GovHack 2015 is an annual national data mashup event that gives teams of developers the chance to compete and create new products using this data.
We partnered with the Digital Transformation Office to sponsor a Digital Transformation prize category for the ‘most useful product or service for the public’.
Health Buddy won the prize for their app which assists families to find the best place to get help with a health problem.
Runners up included Neuron, an app for connecting related patent applications, and Invest SA, an infographic portal for South Australian export trends.
The NationalMap is a powerful geo-spatial visualisation tool, was also showcased with developers using its datasets in new ways for their apps.
Support for GovHack is part of the Government’s commitment to making open data available online for reuse, with more than 3,000 datasets already publically available.
