Consultations are now open for the biggest reforms to Australia's spectrum management in over 25 years.

25 May 2017

The proposed reforms implement the recommendations of the Government's 2015 Spectrum Review. They will create a framework that reduces regulatory burdens and supports new and innovative technologies and services.

The Government invites stakeholder feedback on the three main recommendations of the Spectrum Review:

  • replace the current legislation with new legislation that removes prescriptive process and streamlines licensing for a simpler and more flexible framework
  • better integrate the management of public sector and broadcasting spectrum to improve the consistency and integrity of the framework, and
  • review spectrum pricing to ensure consistent and transparent arrangements to support the efficient use of spectrum and secondary markets.

Have your say on Spectrum legislation or Spectrum pricing and Commonwealth holdings. The consultations close on 30 June 2017.
