The Government has announced a $10 million boost to ensure regional Australians can access the Viewer Access Satellite Television Service (VAST) until 2021.
3 January 2019
VAST provides free-to-air television services to around 500,000 Australian viewers in regional Australia and some metropolitan areas.
The service has been operating since 2010 as part of the national switchover to digital television. The additional $10 million will add to more than $127 million in funding committed to the service since 2010.
The 2018 review of the VAST service has also been released, which includes the key recommendation that the service should continue to be provided through the current satellite delivery model.
